We are excited to be offering our first class that is totally dedicated to preparing you for the Canine Good Citizenship Test. The CGC test is designed to recognize the training you’ve done to ensure that your favorite companion, your dog, is a respected, well-mannered member of society. The CGC class teaches you the skills that are needed to demonstrate good manners. The class will break down the ten areas of the test so that you and your dog can gain the skills and confidence you need for success. The CGC test is offered bimonthly on Sundays at our clubhouse. The class focuses directly on all ten-test items listed below:
Test 1: Accepting a friendly stranger
Test 2: Sitting politely for petting
Test 3: Appearance and grooming
Test 4: Out for a walk (walking on a loose lead)
Test 5: Walking through a crowd
Test 6: Sit and down on command and Staying in place
Test 7: Coming when called
Test 8: Reaction to another dog
Test 9: Reaction to distraction
Test 10: Supervised separation
Be sure to visit the AKC website and download the CGC Participant Guide, which will give you details of the test.
